Police are investigating an armed robbery and attempted carjacking in Shorewood.

Shorewood police were dispatched to the 1600 block of East Capitol Drive at about 7:20 p.m. for an armed robbery, according to a news release.

The victim had been driving east on East Capitol Drive when a vehicle passed their vehicle and pulled in front on it, forcing it to stop.

The driver of the suspect vehicle exited the vehicle and approached the victim. A second suspect remained in the suspect vehicle.

The suspect ordered the victim out of the vehicle at gunpoint, according to the news release. The suspect got into the driver’s seat of the victim’s vehicle and attempted to drive, but was unable to.

The suspect got out of the vehicle and stole items from the victim, a news release said. The suspect then fired two rounds at the unoccupied vehicle, striking the vehicle.

The victim did not sustain any injuries. The two suspects fled west on East Capitol Drive.

The suspect vehicle was described as an older silver or gray sedan.

The investigation is ongoing.
