Wyoming police are investigating the death of a 45-year-old man who was struck by a car early Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Early investigation showed that the victim, Michael Paul Vela, 45, of Wyoming, had been in an argument with the driver, Wyoming police said.

The driver stayed at the scene.

The crash happened around 3:30 a.m. in the 1700 block of Burlingame, south of Chicago Drive. Vela was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives continue to investigate circumstances surrounding the death “but the initial investigation indicates that the driver of the vehicle and Mr. Vela had been in an argument prior to Mr. Vela being hit by the vehicle,” Lt. Eric Wiler said in a statement.

No charges have been filed, police said.

Police asked anyone with information to call investigators at 616-530-7300 or Silent Observer at 616-774-2345.
