Two young girls and two adults who were inside a car that was shot multiple times Thursday evening in Randolph were miraculously not struck by any of the bullets and were left without any major injuries, police said.

Officers responded to several reports of shots fired near Perly Evans Drive and Hemlock Terrace shortly after 7:20 p.m. and found numerous bullet shell casings when arriving at the scene, according to a statement from Randolph Police Chief William Pace.

The car that was shot was located at 11 Highland Ave. The vehicle suffered significant ballistic damage, including at least three shots to the windshield and engine damage due to gunfire, the statement said.

Also in the car during the shooting was a 33-year-old man and two children, girls ages 3 and 5 years old, officials said.

Nobody was shot, and no other injuries were reported, according to police.

The shooting is being actively investigated by Randolph police, who are being helped by Braintree and Boston police, authorities said.
